About

Claus Poulsen is a visual artist from Copenhagen, whose work explores the manipulation of photographic slides through chemical processes, creating unique and evocative pieces. Introduced to the technique in 2006 by the czech visual artist and improvising musician Martin Klapper, CP has since dedicated his artistic practice to refining and expanding these methods, transforming ordinary photographic materials into striking works of art.

CP’s distinct visual style has often been incorporated into album covers for both his own musical projects and collaborations with independent labels. Watch selected covers here. His work embodies a deep engagement with texture, color, reflecting a passion for experimentation and innovation.

In November 2024, CP presented his debut solo exhibition "En verden i opløsning" (A world dissolving), where his chemical manipulation of slides was the central focus, showcasing the unique visual language he has developed over the years.

His artistic practice continues to evolve, exploring new methods and mediums, while maintaining a strong foundation in the conceptual and experimental.

Some series of heavily manipulated works are completely abstract, others keep elements from the original images (example here), and some become monochrome or black and white with a dark feel.

CP also works with photo, found photo, collage, video art, sound art, noise and music. A number of works can be purchased in different sizes, signed and numbered and printed on 340g Hahnemühle paper here.
