Claus Poulsen has been an active musician and photographer since his teenage years. The soundensemble Alarm112 was formed in 1995 and worked with research in noise, casualism, improvisation, media, performance, releases, theatre and installation. Alarm112 performed at the national radio's Studio 2, The museum of contemporary art in Roskilde, Fylkingen, below Copenhagens central square, a 24 hour internet transmitted concert, and had the videowork "Soundmobiles" at the spring exhibition at Charlottenborg in 2000. The following period, Claus Poulsen focused on electronic music - solo and with Brainstorm, Hearaches in Hi-fi and Spoke vs Wunderbaum.
In 2006, Claus Poulsen was introduced to the technique of chemically manipulating slide film by the czech visual artist and improviser Martin Klapper. Since then, these techniques have been explored, tested and expanded.
Since 2010, Claus Poulsen got more involved in the European scene for experimental music and noise, touring regularly and releaseing several albums on independent labels - solo and in collaborations. Claus Poulsen has provided much of the artwork for these releases - using manipulated slides, photo, found photo, collage and design.
In November 2024, Claus Poulsen held his debut soloexhibition "En verden i opløsning" ("Dissolving world"), presenting almost two decades of work with manipulated slides.
